Car Rental: Smove vs Tribecar (2018 Dec Edition)

I wrote a post regard to Smove vs Tribecar in Feb 2018 (Link).
It is time to update this since the last post is almost 1 year ago.

If you havent heard of Smove and Tribecar, both are car rental companies where you can rent their cars for personal use or to drive for Grab.

Smove have this "Super Short Rental" booking with min 15mins per booking.
This is very useful / cheaper option if you are going home and there is a high surge in Grab price or no driver is available.

You can easily identify a Smove car by its 2 blue side mirror.

As for Tribecar, by its big ugly sticker

Let take a look at the Pro and Cons of these 2 companies.

Pros
Cons
Newer car (Typically less than 3 yrs old)
Min $50 per booking
Keyless (Only require Ezlink to lock/unlock car)
110+ pickup locations only
Booking fee included petrol (Unless you exceed the mileage caps which is unlikely for normal usage)
More costly than Tribecar
No payment required for petrol topup at all Esso station as every car is equip with Esso Speedpass
Upfront payment for first 3 trips
Able to return car at diff location from your pickup location
Min age requirement is 24 years old  (Except their Premium Category which require min 27 years old)
Rent timing in 15 mins block (eg: X:00, X:15, X:30: X:45)
You can unlock and drive the car 15mins before your booked timeslot for free

No upfront security deposit required
Car Fleet include BMW

Pros
Cons
Min $2 per booking (Exclude Motorcycle)
Older car (Typically 6yrs and above for Economy category)
Min 1 hour per booking
Require to use car key to lock/unlock car
Cheaper than Smove
Booking fee exclude petrol. Required to pump petrol for every book trip
Car Fleet include Motorcycle and Vans
Unable to return car to diff location from your pickup location
Min age requirement is 23 years old
Rent timing in 60 mins block (eg: X:00)
 230+ pick up locations
You can unlock and drive the car 30mins before your booked timeslot for free only if the previous time slot is not been booked
$100 upfront refunable security deposit required
Require to topup cash credit into e-Wallet

$5 per month fee if account remains inactive for 6 months

Similarity
1) Car Fleet - Sedan, SUV, MPV
2) Unable to choose specific car model you wanted
3) Pay per use (No membership fee)
4) Ability to buy Collision Damage Wavier (CDW) insurance to reduce the excess

Conclusion
If you prefer a premium economy kind of car and rental experience, I will recommend Smove.
Else, Tribecar is good enough.

Looking to rent car for upcoming Xmas / New Year / CNY or running errands?

Use my ref link below to enjoy the following bonus.
Smove: $20 bonus credit when you sign up with my ref link
Tribecar: $15 bonus credit if you topup $50 to your e-Wallet (First Topup only) with my ref link

PS: You will get nothing if you sign up directly without any ref link

Added: FIRST REIT (Dec 2018)

Bought 4,000 shares of FIRST REIT on 19 Dec at $1.
Total numbers of FIRST REIT shares owned increased to 15,000 shares.

Reasons for buying:

1) FIRST REIT had released an "Analyst Briefing Slides" dated 12 Dec to manage "expectation" instead of based on "rumour" (Link). Key slides to focus: Slide 22 - 29
2) 8.6% dividend yields
3) First REIT is oversold

4) P/B at 0.91
5) I actually quite like the idea of OUE becoming one of the Sponsors.
This will allow First Reit to have the Right of First Refusal (ROFR) in buying asset outside of Lippo Karawaci radar (Putting aside the buying price if it is beneficial to shareholders). Thus, the very first purchase will be in the spotlight.
6) As per the report in Business Times dated 21 Nov, "She noted in a previous report that Lippo Karawaci has been paying up more slowly than usual but has so far not defaulted on its rental payments." (Link) Shareholders should be able to rely on OUE to ensure this is minimize as it will have bigger impact for OUE given they have 10.63% stake, as compared to us.
7) Quarterly dividend payment

As FIRST REIT shareholders, we must expect Rights issue given the purchase of asset from OUE Sponsor (As stated in the Analyst Briefing Slide 28, "Plans to rebalance portfolio where up to 50% of assets will be located outside Indonesia"). For those who had high % of FIRST REIT in your portfolio, please ensure your warchest is sufficient. Else, please perform some portfolio rebalancing.

As mentioned in point 5 above, the first purchase of asset will be the key focus for the share price direction.
If the buying price is beneficial to shareholders, the shares price should goes up.

Added: Keppel Corporation

Bought 6,000 shares of Keppel Corporation on 11 Dec at $6.04
Unlike my usual stock purchases which is for long term, this is more for short term.
Once capital gain achieved, I will sell it off.

Reasons for buying:

1) Dropped to 52w low

2) OPEC+ had reached an agreement to cut oil output from Jan 2019 (Link)
3) Kep Corp Property + Data center division
4) Net profit started to increase since 2016.
2018 net profit estimated will be higher than 2017

Review: Millionaire Mind Intensive

I went to attend the 3 days Millionaire Mind Intensive (MMI) held in Singapore Expo from 30th Nov - 2 Dec 2018.

I enjoyed and learnt alot from the book when I read it last Nov 2017 (Link here) that I went ahead to purchase the VIP ticket for this MMI.

As the seminar title mentioned, it is Millionaire Mind INTENSIVE.
Thus, I prepared myself for information overloaded portion.

But I am WRONG.

The BAD
1) I think their intensive refer to the hours of the seminar.
Day 1: 9am to 10.30pm
Day 2: 9am to 10pm
Day 3: 8am to 7pm

37.5hours spent over 3 days!!!!!
My body battery was drained at the end of each day.

2) Too much upselling of their other seminars.
The number of hours can be reduced by a total of 7 hours if they removed the upselling portion and the "Thank you - Ending" talk.

The GOOD
1) Lots of activities which really set your brain into thinking and reflecting mode (You do not have the option of going through motion).
The activities can be found in the book itself too. Just that majority of the reader will just skip these activities by flipping over to the next page instead.

2) The audience in the VIP area.
I attended other seminar organised by Success Resources (SR) before. Some of the General ticket holder are there because they got the ticket as complimentary. Thus, majority are there to 'look see look see'.
You can tell by observing the Q to enter the seminar. Although VIP is around 30% of the ticket holders, but the Q is always longer to enter (especially in the morning) than the 70% of the General ticket holders. Not to mention about the empty seats in each category.
So, if you are really serious about attending seminar like this, buy the VIP ticket.

Conclusion
As for the concept and theory of the 17 wealth file (Link here), I think I learnt more by reading the book.
Thus, I recommend you to read the book first and decide for youself if you want to attend the seminar.
They really need to reduce the upselling of their other seminars to 1 hour max.
