US stock market Trading update for July

 

As mentioned in my previous post "Sustainable to become full time stock trader??", wanted to try doing trading in the US stock market and if all work out well within 1 year trial period, might consider to quit my 9-5 job and become full time trader.

Well, in the month of July, did earn a profit of USD4,537.88.

On first glance, it seem awesome.

But if you look deeper into detail, you will notice that I am still experiencing heavy paper loss for my 2 outstanding trade that I am still holding till now as the share price had gone deep underwater. Thanks to the China regulatory fears which erase nearly $150B in 1 week.

All I was looking for is just able to earn USD200 / day so that in a single month, I will have USD4000 / ~ SGD5000+, enough to achieve FIRE.

I used POEMS for more than 1 decade and DBS Vickers for few years.

Sold 2124 shares of NikkoAM-StraitsTrading Asia Ex Japan Reit via POSB Invest Saver at $1.139 on 28 Jul.

Total profit: $84.44 (3.54%) in 1 year.

Reason for selling:

POSB Cashback Bonus account only recognize first 12 months of investment transaction

Bought NikkoAM-StraitsTrading Asia Ex Japan Reit via POSB Invest Saver is due to fulfilling the requirement needed by POSB Cashback Bonus / DBS Multiplier in order to earn more interest.

Well, given that POSB Cashback bonus rebate you back 3% of your monthly investment amount, this requirement is still very juicy (Note: My total profit of $62.01 stated above exclude all the 3% rebate I earned via POSB Cashback bonus).

Since I am able to fulfil 3 categories (Salary + CC Spend + Home Loan) at this moment, I am not in hurry to switch to a new investment at this moment.

SOLD: Frasers Centrepoint Trust

 

Sold 30,000 shares of Frasers Centrepoint Trust on 5 Jul at $2.45.

Total profit of $4,658.67 (6.6%) in 9 months.

Reason for selling:

1) Lock in profit and channel the fund into US market

As mentioned in my previous post here, due to the volatile in US market, money seem to be able to make faster via trading (short term).

Food Review: Japan Ichiran Ramen (Self cook at home)

Since we cant fly to Japan to enjoy our favorite Japanese Ramen and due to dine in restriction, the next best way to enjoy a HOT, YUMMY and DELICIOUS ramen will be self cook at home.

Japan Ichiran had came out a self cook at home ramen and was long wanting to try it due to the good reviews from many. What stopped me from buying earlier is the price.

I would say it is worth paying for this especially when you have craving for ramen.

The package contain 5 x (noodles + soup base + chili).

Given it was Japan products, I was expecting all the 5 x noodles are individual packed. But all the 5 x noodles are packed together (Dont worry, you dont have to cook all 5 x noodles at one go as you can still keep the balance in the original packaging).

Although I dont understand Japanese, but the picture instruction are simple enough for me to understand and follow.

The cooking is super easy too for someone who only know how to cook maggi mee.

Boil the water in pot, add in noodles and cook for 2mins 30sec, add in the soup base, off the gas and stir.

 

Hokkaido scallops not included in the Ichiran ramen :p

You can add in your own Meat, Onsen egg or Scallops.

This Fukuyama brand is my favourite and can be bought from NTUC.

Sustainable to become full time stock trader??

Due to home bias, I had been buying SGX related stocks since 2013.

Home bias is the tendency for investors to invest the majority of their portfolio in domestic equities, ignoring the benefits of diversifying into foreign equities.

I only venture out to US stock market in May 2021 where I bought Crowdstrike and made 21.6% in 12 days (Link). 

This % is ultra rare in Singapore market (excluding penny stock where risks are high).

This caught my attention and interest level became super high, wanting to explore more on US stock market.

If I can maintain or do better than June 2021 profit consistency for the next 12 months, then I can start to consider switch to become full time stock trader.

If you have successfully switched from 9-5 jobs -> Full time trader OR unsuccessfully going to switch from Full time trader back to 9-5 jobs, would like to hear your stories / experiences / tips :)

I wont be posting my BUY SELL post so often for now (Last post was Added: Mastercard) since I will be going for super short term trading.

Aside from home bias which stopped me from venture out of Singapore stock market, stock platform was also another factor.
