Added: Bitcoin via Gemini (My maiden crypto)

Bought S$6,000 worth of Bitcoin at ~USD34,600 level on 29 May through Gemini.

Since this is the first time I am buying Crypto, the buying process and experience need to be as simple as possible.

Why buy via Gemini?

1) It accept SGD as payment

Gemini allow you to buy Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH) in SGD.

This save alot of hassle for me as I do not have multicurrency bank account.

Note: You can chose to buy other coins such as BTC, ETH, Dogecoin, Bitcoin cash, Litecoin and etc in USD.

2) Low fees

By default when you sign up Gemini account, it will be in Basic mode (1.49% fee).

To enjoy 0.35% fee, you just need to go to Account -> Setting -> Trading interface and change it to Activetrader Advanced mode.

For info: Binance.sg fee is 0.6% & Coinhako is 1% (Only comparing exchange which accept local bank xfer).

3) No additional fees for deposit and withdraw

For Gemini & Binance.sg, both deposit and withdraw is free while Coinhako charges additional fees depending on your money source/destination.

If you know how to use FAST transfer, you will know how to do your deposit and withdraw.

For both my deposit via FAST into Gemini account, it reflected within 10mins.

4) Security measures

Anything that are connected to the Internet will have risks of getting hack.

Thus, we can only minimize the risk as a prevention.

Gemini claims that they keep majority of the crypto offline. For those small % of crypto that are keep online, it is insured too.

You can read more of their Security measures here

For beginners like me, I do not want to buy cold wallet such as Ledger or Trezor for a start.

If in the future I were to get my own cold wallet, Gemini provide 10 free crypto withdraws per month for FREE.

Click on my ref link here to sign up Gemini and both of us will receive $10 worth of bitcoin when you buy / sell $100 or more within 30 days of account creation.

SOLD: Crowdstrike (My maiden USA stock)

Sold 55 shares of Crowdstrike on 26 May at USD224.50.

Total profit USD2196.02 (21.6%) in 12 days.

Reason for selling:

1) Lock in profit

Crowdstrike is still a very wonderful company with very high potential.

Selling purely due to lock in profit since releasing financial result on 3rd June.

Price could go either way depending on if the result meet the estimated target.

Will keep Crowdstrike in my watchlist and buy again when price is right.

Have been buying only stocks in SGX since 2013 due to home bias and POEMS broker.

Thanks to Tiger broker (low oversea fees), I bought my maiden Hong Kong stock in Jan 2021 (Fortune REIT) and obtain 16% gain in 4 months (Link).

Venture out to USA stock this month and obtain 21.6% in 12 days (Also bought Alibaba just few days ago Link).

Most likely I will be reducing my stocks in SGX and explore more into HK / USA.

If you are in similar situation as me or still hesitating, highly recommend you to try out Tiger Brokers using my QR code above or click on this link: https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/activity/forapp/invitflow-intl/signup.html?template=invite202011&lang=en_US&invite=O7OFC3

Tiger broker is giving new sign up user 1 x Starbucks share + 60 commission free trades + 500 Tiger coins if you makes an initial deposit of at least 2000 SGD or equivalent currency.

3) SOLD: Fortune REIT (HK778)

Saturday, May 22, 2021

Added: Alibaba

Bought 84 shares of Alibaba at USD211.30 on 21 May.

This is my 2nd USA stock (Maiden USA stock is Crowdstrike bought on 14 May).

Reason for buying:

1) Near to 52w low

Due to the Anti-monopoly probe by China, Alibaba share price have been on the downtrend after it reached its 52w high of USD319.32.

Other China tech giants are affected too. Alibaba is also the first to be handed a fine of USD2.8B by the China regulators

Since this is a one off fine (manageable fine amount too), situation do look better at this moment.

Thus, share price should be near bottom unless there is big move / announcement by the China regulators.

2) Brands under Alibaba Group

I believe majority of the people living outside China would have heard / use one of their brands before.

For my BTO renovation, I purchased whole set of Toilet Vanity, Kitchen sink, Rain shower set and etc from Taobao. All are still working fine after 1+yrs of usage (Link 1 & Link 2).

Recently, I also bought Baby cot from Taobao since having good product & Taobao experience previously from BTO renovation.

3) Alibaba is below its 200days MA

As per the article of Seekingalpha.com, "As of this writing, BABA is currently trading well below its 200-day moving average (about 18% below to be precise). Historically, every time BABA has been in this spot it has performed very well in the future.

Since its IPO, BABA has traded this far below its 200-day moving average only a couple of times, as shown in the chart below by the green circles.

As I show in the table below, every time the stock has been there, buyers of the stock were handsomely rewarded by strong returns over the next 12 or 24 months. The table below shows total return over the next 12 and 24 months, after Alibaba has gone this far below its 200 day moving average.

SOLD: Fortune REIT (HK778)

Sold 17,000 shares of Fortune Reit on 17 May at HKD8.04.

Total profit HKD19,356.83 / SGD3,319 (16%) in 4 months.

Reason for selling:

1) COVID variant

Both Singapore & Taiwan suddenly had a spike in numbers of COVID cases. These 2 countries had managed to keep its COVID cases very low for many months.

Covid-19: What went wrong in Singapore and Taiwan?

The new COVID variant seem to be more powerful and those who had taken their vaccine are infected too.

Thus, before it hit Hong Kong shores (I hope not), sold off Fortune Reit to turn paper gain into actual gain.

Added: Crowdstrike (My maiden USA stock)

Bought 55 shares of Crowdstrike at USD184.50 on 14 May.

Reason for buying:

1) Next Gen business model (Cloud + OPEX + AI + Scalable)

Products that are still on-prem & CAPEX (One time license fee) are outdated.

2) Ability to expand customer base + increase revenue + high customer retention rate

3) IT Security is critical to all company

4) Potential to increase revenue from existing customer too

5) High gross margin

6) Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant

SOLD: AIMS APAC REIT (May 2021)

Sold 9,000 shares of AIMS APAC REIT on 6 May at $1.41.

Total profit of $2264.26 (17.7%) in 6 months.

Reason for selling:

1) PB 1.03

PB is higher than the 5yrs average PB of 0.98

2) 52w high: Limited upside

3) Take profit to invest in another stock

AA REIT is still a golden goose that can lay golden egg (dividend). But feel that price is on high side now. Thus take profit first and revisit this golden goose in future when the price is right.

Review: iLife Shinebot W450 Mop Robot (The Best Value for Money Mop Robot in 2021??)

I wrote the review of Hydra S7 Robot Vacuum with mop last year. After using for 1+ years, I am still very happy with its performance. Really is a great buy (Super value for money too) I would say.

iLife Shinebot W450 is the latest Mop Robot just launched few months ago (Successor of iLife W400).

I find it super value for money. It is only S$300 in Qoo10 (That is before applying Qoo10 coupons + stacking with Qoo10 Cashback rewards + your own Credit card rebate).

iLife Shinebot W450 closest competitors will be Everybot & iRobot Braava Jet

iLife Shinebot W450 is suitable for those who hate mopping your floor or do not have the time.

THE GOOD

1) Keeping the floor Clean

W450 only have 1 job which is mopping the floor.

If W450 cant do a good job in this area, then this product is totally useless.

To test how good is this mop robot, I stop using my Hydra S7 robot for 2 days and just run the W450 on the 3rd day.

You can see the water colour collected in the dirty water tank below. GOSH!!!!

2) Mop robot with an Apps

You can choose the Water Seeping rate (Good for those who have vinyl flooring where high level wetness will cause the vinyl to spoilt faster) , Travel Speed and Brush speed according to your preference and choice.

3) Able to mop finish my HDB 4 room in 1 mop cycle

4) All you need is One button to Power Up, Power down, Start and Stop

In my day to day usage, I only need to depend on the "CLEAN" button (Apps is optional).

The "CLEAN" button will indicate the battery level by displaying GREEN (Full battery), ORANGE or RED (low battery).

I only need to press the "CLEAN" button to Power up/down the W450 and Stop/Stop the mop cycle.

Super easy to operate the W450.

5) A robot that cannot climb

Because the robot cannot climb over 1cm edge, I do not need to close my toilet door whenever I use the W450.

THE BAD

1) Unable to auto return back to charging base to start charging

Unlike the Hydra S7, it is able to return to the charging base when the job is done and start auto charging.

iLife W450 will just return to its starting point when the job is done. You will need to manually place it onto the charging pod to begin charging.

2) Not a smart robot

You are unable to save your house map. Every clean is a brand new exploration for the W450.
Thus, if you want W450 to clean the kitchen only, you will need to carry and place the robot in the kitchen yourself and press Start.

Because of this, I notice sometime W450 will clean some area twice and thus took a longer time to complete the mop cycle.

I find it super value for money. iLife W450 is only S$300 in Qoo10 (That is before applying Qoo10 coupons + stacking with Qoo10 Cashback rewards + your own Credit card rebate).
Qoo10 Cashback rewards
