US stock market Trading update for July

 

As mentioned in my previous post "Sustainable to become full time stock trader??", wanted to try doing trading in the US stock market and if all work out well within 1 year trial period, might consider to quit my 9-5 job and become full time trader.

Well, in the month of July, did earn a profit of USD4,537.88.

On first glance, it seem awesome.

But if you look deeper into detail, you will notice that I am still experiencing heavy paper loss for my 2 outstanding trade that I am still holding till now as the share price had gone deep underwater. Thanks to the China regulatory fears which erase nearly $150B in 1 week.

All I was looking for is just able to earn USD200 / day so that in a single month, I will have USD4000 / ~ SGD5000+, enough to achieve FIRE.

I used POEMS for more than 1 decade and DBS Vickers for few years.

Sold: NikkoAM-StraitsTrading Asia Ex Japan Reit via POSB Invest Saver

 

Sold 2124 shares of NikkoAM-StraitsTrading Asia Ex Japan Reit via POSB Invest Saver at $1.139 on 28 Jul.

Total profit: $84.44 (3.54%) in 1 year.

Reason for selling:

POSB Cashback Bonus account only recognize first 12 months of investment transaction

Bought NikkoAM-StraitsTrading Asia Ex Japan Reit via POSB Invest Saver is due to fulfilling the requirement needed by POSB Cashback Bonus / DBS Multiplier in order to earn more interest.

Well, given that POSB Cashback bonus rebate you back 3% of your monthly investment amount, this requirement is still very juicy (Note: My total profit of $62.01 stated above exclude all the 3% rebate I earned via POSB Cashback bonus).

Since I am able to fulfil 3 categories (Salary + CC Spend + Home Loan) at this moment, I am not in hurry to switch to a new investment at this moment.

SOLD: Frasers Centrepoint Trust

 

Sold 30,000 shares of Frasers Centrepoint Trust on 5 Jul at $2.45.

Total profit of $4,658.67 (6.6%) in 9 months.

Reason for selling:

1) Lock in profit and channel the fund into US market

As mentioned in my previous post here, due to the volatile in US market, money seem to be able to make faster via trading (short term).
